Suzhou No. 1 Department Store was frist built in 1972, in 1989 the reconstruction work began, the new building was put into use from September, 1992. The store locates in the business centre of the old city proper in Suzhou, just opposite the Guanqian street. The store currently has a sales area of about 13,000 square meters and 2500 staffs. It initiated the chain sales of air-conditioner in storehouses. By the means of replenishing stocks centralizedly and selling decentralizedly, it opened in the city 5 "air-conditioner Olympic Branches" in the business of chain sales. On 28th of April, 1999, it became the first online shop in Jiangsu Province.
